How Darmé picks products
Last updated: September 30, 2026
Darmé makes no money from the products it suggests. No brand pays to appear, there are no affiliate links, and Darmé earns nothing when you buy a product. Our only income is the subscription.
Your own products come first
When the Coach builds your routine, it starts with the products you already own. It suggests a new product only when a step of your routine is missing, and it says why. You can always keep what you have.
How a product gets into Darmé's catalogue
- The product is recorded from the brand's official page: the full ingredient list in the order printed, how to use it, and the size.
- A person checks the record against those official sources, and the sources are kept with the record.
- Checking and publishing are separate steps. A product stays hidden until its record has been checked.
- Prices are dated observations and are checked again later. Formulas can differ by region or batch, so the label on the product you buy always comes first.
How the Coach chooses
- It starts from the concerns you chose. Products our review matched to them come first.
- The rest of each basic step (cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen) is filled with everyday basics. They are chosen only by what their brands say about them: non-comedogenic, fragrance-free or suitable for sensitive skin. They are marked as everyday basics and are not matched to a concern.
- If you chose breakouts, blackheads, clogged pores, shine or visible pores, or said your skin is oily, each basic step shows products their brands describe as non-comedogenic.
- If you said your skin reacts to products, or chose sensitivity or redness, each basic step shows products their brands describe as fragrance-free or for sensitive skin. We leave out products whose brand or ingredient list shows fragrance.
- If a step has too few such products, the step says so.
- Your photo readings help the Coach explain its picks. They don't add products.
- In routine setup, if you use a prescribed skin treatment, the Coach asks you to check with your prescriber before it suggests products. In chat, it leaves out strong active ingredients.
- It checks your shelf for combinations that don't go well together.
- When a step is missing, it shows up to three options, so you can pick one you can find.
Acne medicines and strong actives
Darmé doesn't suggest acne medicines (products sold with Drug Facts, such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide washes and gels), or strong actives like retinoids and exfoliating acids that haven't passed our separate review. If you already use one, keep following its label. A pharmacist or dermatologist can help you choose one.
Links
Each catalogue product links to its official source. Some also link to a retailer's page so you can check the current US price. These are plain links: Darmé earns nothing from them.
If this ever changes
If Darmé ever accepts money from a brand or adds affiliate links, we will say so on this page and in the app before it happens, and we will stop saying "No sponsors".
